Artist in Residency at Persian Center with artist Taraneh Hemami
Art classes for Iranian-American children in Berkeley
This
9 month teaching residency is designed to familiarize the second
generation Iranian students (8-18)with their cultural heritage
through creative art projects. Children will learn various two
and three dimensional art techniques, as well as learning to
think creatively and to connect to their heritage through art-making.
Guest lecturers and artists will make presentations through out
the project. There will be a public presentation of the art works
at the end of the course.
Who: Full scholarships are
available for selected Iranian-American students with strong
artistic and cultural interest. Classes are restricted in size.
four different age groups from 8-18
Community service opportunities
are available for teenagers interested in working with younger
children.
When: Classes will meet once
a week on Saturday or Sunday depending on age group. Classes
will begin end of January 2001.
