The Center

The Persian Center was incorporated in March 1992 and was able to buy its building, 2029 Durant Avenue, a historic three-story facility covering over 4,500 square feet located in the heart of beautiful Berkeley on April 27, 2000. The building is a California preserved landmark, built in the early 1880’s. Currently, the Persian Center occupies the first floor, which houses a reading room library with Persian books on a variety of topics, a community room that accommodates up to 50 people, a classroom, music room, and a kitchenette. It rents the second and third floor to provide income for the center.

The Persian Center is conveniently located with easy access by car, BART and other public transportation, proximity to Berkeley High School, Berkeley City College and University of California Berkeley, as well as the enthusiastic reception offered by the City of Berkeley.

The Persian Center is a non-profit, charitable 501(c3) organization whose mission is to create an environment in which to conduct social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities designed to strengthen the sense of identity and integrity of all Iranians and Iranian descendants, and to engage individuals interested in or related to Persian community and culture.
